Training
Construction and mining are very dangerous occupations. The employee needs to be taught to recognize and avoid all unsafe condition that can come about while doing their job. The employee needs to know the regulations applicable to his/her work environment in order to eliminate, or control, any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury. Only those employees qualified should operate power tools, equipment, or machinery.
Employees that are required to handle poisons, caustics, or other harmful substances need to be instructed in the safe handling and use of these substances. They should be provided with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on the substances and understand the Material Safety Data Sheets.
Employees need to be aware of the hazards when required to work in a confined or enclosed space and also need to know the necessary precautions to be taken, the rescue methods, and must be knowledgeable in the use of required protective and emergency equipment.
